Black Shark 4 Pro review: Xiaomi’s gaming powerhouse is fast but flawed
So you can get nearly the same flagship performance at less than half the (retail) cost. But after ignoring the warning and sticking with 60fps, while leaving everything else as it was, it was time to see how well it performed. Walking around and interacting with the environment was just as I expected it to be — buttery smooth. The model we received is the Pale Grey version, and even though Xiaomi includes a plastic case in the box, we’re still thankful for that. There’s another color version available with the Mirror Black, but that would have surely been a fingerprint magnet. Meanwhile, the Pale Grey offers a matte finish that is comfortable to hold and doesn’t look like it needs to be wiped down constantly.
Now, the certification proves that the company isn’t playing with its fans and will really bring a cutting-edge charging tech. This will allow the phone’s 4,500mAh battery to be filled in under 15 minutes. So, even though the 4,500mAh isn’t the biggest of batteries, especially for a gaming phone, it can be charged in just a few minutes. For starters, the Black Shark 4 and 4 Pro measure in at 6.67-inches and include a 144Hz refresh rate display — free ideal for fast-paced FPS and third-person titles like PUBG and Fortnite. There is an insane 720Hz touch sampling rate, too, which Xiaomi claims is the industry’s best on a mobile. Hardcore gamers may want this supposed competitive advantage. Both models include a pressure-sensitive display, too, which should mean that the level of your taps will correspond to different in-game actions/movement.

- At 163.93mm long, 76.35mm wide, and 9.9mm thick, it’s a slim phone that fits nicely in your hand and pocket.
Because, after the reboot, the phone starts optimizing the apps in the background, which requires more processing power than when idle. Well, there is nothing wrong with your phone; when you turn on your phone’s Hotspot, your phone has to connect with the cellular network and use WiFi to act as a hotspot. Unfortunately, this puts too much work on the battery and starts to heat up.
The snappy refresh rates and uber responsive AMOLED display will have you winning against friends for ages. This phone chews processor-heavy multi-tasking for breakfast and spits out a buttery smooth user experience.
- With more gaming and intense use, setting the performance level to the maximum level (Ludicrous) and forcing the refresh rate to 144 Hz, I lasted less than 10 hours.
- And for that one key area, gaming phones like this one can’t be beaten.
- Importing data from an old phone and then going through it all is made more efficient thanks to Mi Share and Xiaomi’s own File Manager.
